Mexens operates on a third-party investment model: we finance your solar panel installation in exchange for the right to use the solar roof for the duration of the lease. For certain solutions (poultry houses, greenhouses, climate-controlled shelters, etc.), the project is fully financed and may even generate an annual rental income. For a new building, Mexens covers the majority of the construction costs (framework, roofing, solar panels, connection), which significantly reduces your investment. In all cases, we offer a free, bespoke assessment to provide a precise cost estimate for your project.

The length of the lease varies depending on the type of project. During this period, Mexens operates the roof or solar installation and carries out maintenance. At the end of the lease, the terms for terminating the contract are set out from the outset: depending on the circumstances, the installation may be transferred to you or dismantled.

Mexens remains the owner of the solar installation for the entire duration of the lease and, as such, takes care of all maintenance, both preventive and corrective. You will not need to carry out any work or incur any costs in relation to the photovoltaic equipment.

The criteria vary depending on the solution being considered: available land area, geographical location, orientation and type of terrain, and the nature of the farming activity. Under a third-party investment scheme, Mexens installs the photovoltaic system (solar panels, inverters, cabling) and retains ownership of it for the entire duration of the lease. For your part, you insure your building and your farming business as you would normally do. The responsibilities of each party are clearly set out in the contract from the outset.
